Murder accused booked for throwing slipper at judge in Thane court

A 22-year-old murder accused has been booked for hurling a slipper at a judge during a hearing in a sessions court in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Monday,

The accused, identified as Kiran Santosh Bharam, was reportedly upset over the absence of his lawyer.

He appeared before District and Additional Sessions Judge RG Waghmare and requested that his case be transferred to another court. The judge advised him to file a formal application through his lawyer. However, when the lawyer failed to appear, Bharam was asked to provide the name of a new lawyer and was given another hearing date

A frustrated Bharam reportedly threw a slipper in the direction of the judge. The slipper struck a wooden frame near the dais.
