Date:

A tragic helicopter crash in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district has claimed the lives of five individuals and left others critically injured, Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed on Thursday. The incident took place near Gangnani, a remote area in the border region of Uttarkashi.

The helicopter was carrying six passengers along with the pilot when it crashed. Visuals from the site revealed the mangled interior of the chopper, highlighting the severity of the impact. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, and officials are working to confirm further details.

As soon as information about the crash was received, emergency relief and rescue teams were swiftly mobilised and dispatched to the crash site. Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the local district administration launched rescue operations and provided immediate medical assistance to the injured.

The cause of the crash remains unknown at this time. Authorities have begun an investigation to determine what led to the fatal incident. The aircraft’s black box and technical logs are expected to be key in establishing the sequence of events.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences and assured that the government is taking all necessary measures. “I have instructed the administration to provide every possible help to the injured and to conduct a thorough investigation into the accident,” he stated.

Further updates are awaited as officials continue to assess the situation and gather more information from the crash site.
